Up and ready for 8am to head to the beach in Sihanoukville, which involved another long bus journey, around 5 hours. We hit the rush hour traffic so it seemed like we hadn’t moved in ages, but eventually we got through and headed onto then open road. It definitely gives me a new perspective on the traffic back at home.
When we finally arrived we headed straight to the beach for lunch as the hotel rooms weren’t quite ready. I went for the ginger chicken which was really good with steamed rice, which comes with practically everything in Cambodia.
Instead of chilling out at the beach after lunch I headed too the hotel as I wasn’t feeling to great, and knew that we had a big day in the sun planned the next day, but I managed to hit the beach just before sunset.
Finally a double bed! Not to comfortable but I managed to get a good nights sleep on it anyway. I did resort to using my sleeping bag liner though as the sheets didn’t look that clean. I think it was just stains, but you never can tell.
In the evenings, it seemed that most restaurants along the beach were offering a bbq menu, and we settled down and placed our orders. I went for the mixed seafood grill which was tasty, but stuck to Coke for drinks as I had a headache and still wasn’t feeling too good.
Quite a lot of the group had started drinking at lunchtime and were quite drunk by the time I arrived for dinner, and they continued into the wee hours of the morning, but unfortunately my headache had persisted so I headed for an early night ready for the boat trip in the morning!
