Lenny loves…St Mary’s Post Part 2 – Harry Moseley Family Centre

The importance of family is never more apparent than in times of need.

The recent addition of the Harry Moseley Family Centre at St Mary’s Hospice has taken this into account wholeheartedly, by allowing the families of patients to stay at the hospice whilst their loved ones receive symptom management and assessment to see if the patient can return home or whether they spent their final days at the hospice itself.

This new facility would not have been possible had it not been for another charity, Help Harry Help Others, along with the Department of Health. Help Harry Help Others donated a massive £100,000, with the Department of Health offering support from their ‘Grant Programme for Hospices’.

The facility itself, is a multi-purpose space which offers a safe and private environment for both patient and their families. In enables families to be with their loved ones during a very difficult time whilst they receive end-of-life care, 24/7.

The Founder and Chairman of Help Harry Help Others, Georgie Moseley knows all too well  how important it is for families to be together in times like these, having lost her lovely, inspirational son Harry in 2011 to a Brain Tumour.

Georgie said “We are honoured to have supported the opening of this new family centre. I know how important it is for families to be together when a loved one is living with terminal illness, so it’s wonderful for us to be able to support Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice to help more families to spend that precious time in comfort and safety.”

The Harry Moseley Family Centre has now been open since May 2014 and given numerous families the encouragement to spend as much time as they need at the Hospice, given families greater comfort, space and privacy during that important time together.
