This week has been classed as Cycle with Style week and I was asked to do a post on cycling fashion for Birmingham Cycle Revolution, the council’s initiative to encourage cycling around the city. The council have set aside £24.3 million to make it easier and safer for people to cycle around the city, find out more information on their website
As a non-cyclist this was a challenge, but I do love a good challenge!
I decided to start with looking at bikes and what was available out there to give me an idea where to start.
I stumbled across Victoria Pendleton’s range for Halfords, and being a bit on the short side I looked at the junior bike options!
It has a lovely vintage look to it so decided to run away with this theme and go a 1950’s style with the clothes.
The main instruction for the fashion piece, was NO LYCRA!! So here is what I have chosen.
I went for two looks depending on the mood!
This outfit is something I would love to be able to wear and think it would be perfect for a romantic cycle ride to the country or park for a picnic!
All items from Vivien of Holloway.
The second outfit I felt was a bit more practical, but still very 1950’s glamour! This is ideal for those everyday bike rides through the city to meet friends for a spot of lunch.
I am loving these looks and it is almost tempting me into buying a bike and getting my cycle on! Only almost though!
Why not check out the Birmingham Cycle Revolution Facebook Page to hear all about what they are getting up to this week.
What do you think to these looks? What would you wear to go riding around the countryside?
