This had been planned has a treat for my Birthday, but it didn’t happen so I passed it on to my little sister for her Birthday last month.
Me, my little sis and my mom toddled off into Birmingham for a spot of shopping before we settled down at The Balcony which is based on the 4th floor of Selfridges and run by Searcys. The decor inside is really cool and trendy, something I would love to have in my bedroom!
We had their Picnic Afternoon Tea for 4 (even though there were only 3 of us!!) and boy was it nice.
There were 3 sandwich fillings; Salmon and Crème Fresh, Cucumber and Cream Cheese and Coronation Chicken, all on lovely rolls (homemade I presume as they were that lovely chewy texture you can only get from good homemade bread). Then there were some cute little macaroons, lemon cupcakes and scones with clotted cream and jam.
Wow, we were so full! We had to have a little doggy bag to take home with us.
We also had a pot of tea each to go with our Afternoon Tea, as what is afternoon tea without the tea!!
As a little treat, we treated ourselves to a non-alcoholic cocktail (rock ‘n’ roll baby). My sister had a mojito and me and my mom had a passion fruit based cocktail.
After a little more shopping we headed back home to take part in a food induced coma for the rest of the evening!
Have you ever tried the afternoon tea at The Balcony? Any recommendations as to where to try next?
Woah – didn’t even know this existed. Looks amazing! Let’s do this together at some point 😉
It is really lovely up there! Definitely up for a spot of Afternoon tea and a girly chat!!!
I have never heard of the place but it certainly looks lovely. I love my cakes 🙂
