Blognix 2014

Back in June, which seems so long ago now, I attended Blognix 2014.

For those of you outside the blogsphere this is a conference spearheaded by Elizabeth from Rosalilum and her band of merry helpers.

It is a conference for bloggers of all shapes and sizes, covering lots of different content and topics.

This was the 2nd year it has been held and, I am sure Elizabeth won’t mind me saying, a huge success.

Held in Birmingham’s Custard Factory, a brilliant creative space in Digbeth, that if you haven’t explored yet, you definitely should. The conference gave people a chance to have a wander and discover some of what the Custard Factory has to offer.

The event itself was fantastic! Bloggers from all over the country descended to hear some of the best bloggers talk about their experiences and give some handy tips and advice to the captivated audience.

Speakers included the likes of Lucy from Capture By Lucy, Kim from Kim Lawler Creative, Emma from The Freelance Lifestyle, Rosie from One Man Band Accounting, Sam and Lea from The Hightea Cast, Hayley from Bonjour Blogger, Hayley from London Beauty Queen, Cathy from The Big Book Project, Ahmed from DineBirmingham and finally an inspirational talk Justice Williams MBE.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to listen to all the speakers but the ones I did see were amazing and gave me lots of ideas and inspiration for my blog now and in the future.

Blognix is such a brilliant concept, and the bloggers I met on the day were all lovely and friendly, and being fairly new to the whole blogging community, this filled me with a warm fuzzy feeling that I was joining something magical and can’t wait to extend my blogging friendship circle!

Onto the food, which was a highlight in the event. Provided by a local pub, The Old Crown . I have definitely got to get myself down there for some more of that food. The sausage rolls were to die for along with everything else that was provided. This little gem is tucked away in Digbeth, an area that I don’t visit often enough.

Another foodie mention goes to Miss Apple Sweets  who provided us with a mid morning snack of Brigaderio’s. Oh. My. God. These were melt in the mouth, umptious, chocolately goodness and I wanted to eat the whole plate! These were heavenly and a definite treat.

Alongside all these foodie treats and inspirational talks, was the opportunity to network and get to know the other bloggers, of which I met a few gems!

To help us network there were lovely little prompt cards everywhere provided by Scarlett of Soho, who also provided a photo booth experience, which was such fun!

Once all the talks were done, we headed over to the newly opened Alfie Birds for some cocktails and pizza! Both were very yummy and much needed after a hard days work!!! The building is really cool, along with the artwork that adorns the walls.

I am waiting for an opportunity to go and check this venue out some more as they hold some cool music themed evenings which I want to see!

Blognix 2014 was definitely a huge success for me, and I learnt a lot, ate a lot and met some fantastic people. I will definitely be heading to the next one, please say there will be another one!

I also fancy going to Blogstock Festival in August, but haven’t made up my mind yet, not completely sold on the whole camping idea!

Lenny xx
