I know I have been promising this post for a few days, but manic doesn’t even come close to describing my life at the moment!
I have decided to split these up, as they are quite long, so you will have a few posts to read whilst I am sunning myself in Turkey!
So without further ado, grab yourself a glass of wine (depending on what time you are reading this of course!), settle down and see what I got up to for my 30th Birthday Celebrations!
Friday 13th – Pamper Day
I started off the day getting a manicure and pedicure done at Koko nails, Sitting back in the massage chair whilst my feet were soaking in the spa bath was bliss! I love having my nails done and here is the end result…
After this I headed off to have my hair done. I usually go to Adee Phelan in Birmingham, which has since closed down so I followed my hairdresser to where she was currently, just at the back of the cube. Having my hair done is another thing I love doing, sitting down and taking a couple of hours out of my day, just chilling and reading some gossip magazines.
I loved the outcome of my hair especially the colour (see outfit pics!)
I then headed over to Selfridges in the Bullring where I was due to have my make-up done, but I was quite early, so I decided to head to Searcy’s and treat myself to a glass of bubbly! Felt very weird drinking champagne all on my lonesome but hey ho! (see pic above!)
Once it was time for my make-up appointment, I headed on down to the Nars Counter and sat with Susie, who was to be my make-up artist for the next hour. Having your make-up done, if you haven’t had this experience yet, is wonderful. I felt like a superstar!
Me and Susie spend the whole time talking about youtube and blogging etc and how we both would like to start making youtube videos, but are both really scared!
As you can see from the pics below, Susie did any amazing job!
Products used (as best as I can remember – Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Deauville, Nars Creamy Concealer (not sure what shade was used), I think she used a primer on both my skin and my eyes but not sure which ones. Next up were my eyes. Now a lot of work went into my eyes so I shall try and see if I can remember everything! The main base of the gold tones were from the Eyeshadow Duo Kauai just the gold colour was used from this, but I love the purple colour in the duo too. On the outside and in the crease was a blue black shimmer eyeshadow, I can’t find in on the website but I am sure it was called Midnight. To line my eyes Susie first used a gel eyeliner in a navy blue colour (again, I have no idea which colour was used! I am useless!) and then Susie decided to go over with a black eyeliner and also used this on my lower lash line then on went some mascara.
To contour my none existent cheekbones she used the Nars Contour Blush in Paloma which also comes with a highlighter. Now I can’t for the life of me remember whether blusher was used on my cheeks! That shows how much attention I was paying, but I did top this up when I got back with my new make-up revolution baked blushers in Make love instead, which I am so in love with right now.
Again, no idea what Lip colour was used, but having a look on the website it appears to have been a Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Lodhi. I would normally purchase the lip colour in a make-up session, as that is usually what I top up when I go out, but I had a similar colour Mac lipstick from a make-up session a while ago so decided against it.
Once the lipstick was applied, the hard decision came as to what to purchase, so I went for the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, as this is one of the reasons I had come to the Nars counter for my make-up and the pump to go with it! I just had to have the eyeshadow duo in Kauai and the Contour Blush in Paloma. The swatches of the eyeshadow below do not give the colours justice, they are so intense and shimmery, I am in absolute awe of these colours!
Then I headed back up to get my gladrags on as the hubby took me out for dinner. Regular readers will know that I originally had a big night out planned with my bestie and her husband, but her husband got called away with work, so we have had to reschedule. I didn’t want my fantastic new look to be wasted so we just went to Cafe Rouge for dinner.
This is what I wore:
Jumpsuit – Primark, Orange top underneath – Next, Shoes – Primark, Bag – Newlook, Earrings – Aspire Style (see my jewellery haul)
We had a lovely evening, with some yummy food…
and then we headed back home as I had an early start to go the Blognix Conference in Birmingham’s Custard Factory the next day!
I really enjoy being pampered, don’t we all, and wish I could do it more often!
What is your favourite way to be pampered?
Stay tuned for the rest of my birthday celebration posts, coming soon!
